FPGA Senior Embedded Developer
Founded in 1998, Itera is one of the most experienced technology companies in the Nordics. At Itera we share a commitment to make a positive difference by applying our expertise to projects that really matter and have a positive impact on people’s lives.
Position brief description:
We are looking for an experienced FPGA Embedded Developer to join a long-term engagement with a Norway-based producer of industrial sensor solutions. This role will become an integrated part of the customer’s engineering setup and contribute directly to solving complex embedded and FPGA architecture challenges within high-performance industrial systems.
Following a recent architecture review, a key technical challenge was identified related to high-speed interconnection failures during MicroBlaze pipeline expansion. The work ahead will focus on improving architecture robustness, timing stability, and FPGA design scalability.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working close to hardware, optimizing FPGA implementations, and collaborating with embedded and system engineers.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain FPGA-based embedded solutions.
Work with MicroBlaze-based architectures and support system expansion initiatives.
Investigate and resolve high-speed interconnection issues across FPGA designs.
Analyze and optimize:
Timing closure issues (setup/hold violations)
Clock Domain Crossing (CDC) mechanisms
ASYNC FIFO bridge reliability and synchronization
Perform architecture improvements to increase performance and scalability.
Develop and validate embedded software interacting with FPGA components.
Support integration, debugging, and system-level testing.
Collaborate closely with the customer engineering team and participate in design reviews.
Contribute to long-term technical decisions and platform evolution.
Required Qualifications:
Strong commercial experience with FPGA development.
Solid understanding of MicroBlaze architecture and embedded FPGA systems.
Experience with embedded software development in C/C++.
Familiarity with FPGA verification, debugging, and performance optimization.
Practical experience with version control and collaborative development processes.
Nice to Have:
Experience with architecture reviews and performance bottleneck analysis.
Experience with hardware/software co-design.
Experience in industrial sensing, measurement, or monitoring systems.
Experience working in distributed customer teams.
We offer to you:
